My issue is that by signaling openness to negotiate only serves to aid the US in their circus show of tryng to control oil prices. Especially when Iranian officials travel to the US, it allows the US to pretend as if they have some kind of leverage when they don’t. The fuel shortage is a material constraint on the imperial core and sooner or later, regardless of the market manipulation, the US will have to confront that reality. Not to mention that within Iran itself, their popular will opposed to negotiating unless Iran has removed the imperialists from the region.

Why help Trump’s attempt to manipulate the oil market, when Iran has a better position for negotiating when the oil market isn’t able to cope with Trump’s circus? The other issue for ms is that Araghchi’s actions appear similiar to when the MOU was pushed forward without explicit comment from Mojtaba Khamenei.

Araghchi and Pezeshkian represent the west-obsesses section of the Iranian bourgeoisie. It’s why they put sanctions relief and unfreezing of assets over things like a US exit from west Asia.

And as another comrade said, why bring this up as a new thing when previously Iran has pointed to the MOU for the US to follow through on.

This talk of negotiations doesn’t help Iran’s position, and in fact, strengthens the US’ position. It appears as if things like the new wave of sanctions are actually having a crippling effect. Whereas, Iran could right now make changes that help alleviate a lot of the economic stress on its citizens if it properly targeted the oligarchs these reformists represent.

I see this as less that Araghchi is trying to advance upon the gains Iran has made through its victory, and more like he’s following edicts from Iranian oligarchs, who fear that the people will force them to stop being such parasites.
