Things will become more obscure and harder to disable. In fact since you own nothing and you’ll be happy, youre damaging government property and the police are already dispatched to take you to a totally cool and totally legal prison slave camp.

I thought that greentext was so outrageous when it first appeared, and now its probably going to be reality at some point.

Remotes aren’t complicated enough to hide the microphone. It’s more likely that tvs ditch the remote entirely and be voice controlled only, mute people be damned.

Anyone know when this started becoming ominous? I’m sure every TV in the sixties didn’t have a microphone on their remotes; I am sure pretty much each one being released today has.

The last TV I had was a 37 inch I sold in 2020. I stopped watching TV in 2003. I have been terminally online since late 2000 and 2001.

Or just buy a cheap 3rd party off brand universal remote. Dont have to use the one that comes with the TV

Do people here still have their smartphones or are these things the first on the microphone hitlist?

It’s so f’ing simple. JUST DON’T CONNECT YOUR TV TO YOUR WIFI. Get your streams from a separate device.

Just curious, what kind of batteries are powering the remote and if rechargeable, how often does it need charging? Not saying they wouldn’t do such things, still a good preventative measure, but I’d be surprised if it could sustain telemetry with only the power of AAA batteries in a typical remote.

No, you’re all getting it wrong.

Collect books, and use the microplastic that you have ingested over the years to build a water-tight caccoon in a cave to protect them.

Everything else simply requires rocks and/or genitalia. Or the absence of rocks and/or genitalia.

    Such is a way.

Another solution is to cover the mic with some thick gum that can be easily removed. Then it can be sold as it was later.

Well this remote is connected to the TV via Bluetooth and the mic is super energy efficient so yeah, to hell with it
