Yeah I think an old Briggs and Stratton engine was the only time time I remember using SAE. I mean I still use SAE [Tap] die sets but the irony is the nut outer is metric.
It’s funny how often I have to repeat myself; as in you need 3/8 brass pipe or 1/2 brass pipe, no not 3/8 compression or flared. I work on high end espresso machines these days, like 20-40k ones.
Yeah you make a proper point; most of the stuff the hardware I work with is metric, the wiring is awg, and the temps are Fahrenheit. Honestly other than a 1/4" wrench and 3/8" spark plug socket, I don’t remember the last time I used any of my anything out of my box wrench sets. They basically are wall ornaments that collect dust. Same with range, I would just use meters since they’re close enough. You know like, target out 300 meters leading left.
The actual answer is it’s too expensive to convert everything at this point. If it takes months to get a pothole filled, good luck with changing all the sighs even as a start. A lot of people use metric anyway. SAE tools can go where the sun don’t shine. Fuck your fractions. Give me a 10 or a 12 or a 17 (mm, stay away Jeffrey) makes more sense than 13/32" … just why, it’s so dumb.
I use neutral DNS, a variant of ad block on my router, waterfox ad block, ublock origin, and noscript. So I’m doing my part.
But yes the ultimate fuck you is just not buy stuff. I mean these days, if I do see an advert, maybe I will think about it, if when rarely it gets my attention, and then I’ll forget and go on to do other stuff. I think the only thing I bought this year was a video game, and that was because I could get it for $4 since I sold all my CSGO skins. A lot of these companies shot themselves in the foot by making online shopping the major outlet. Personally, I can’t be bothered to make an account nor do I really trust anything I don’t see in person. Avoiding big brands is more difficult now since they rebrand the same stuff; think of Trader Joes.
I fix as much stuff as I can to avoid buying stuff, partially to take advantage of my skills and partially out of spite. Like my mouse, switches went bad, I upgraded them for a few bucks. Or the tea kettle stopped working, ripped off the panel where the switch is, turns out the plastic bit wasn’t making good contact to trigger it; modified it to work.
my shitphone, I mean iphone is really pissed that the case (water resistant) I have blocks mic, and well the audio as well lol. And the aluminum tape on the cameras makes it glitch up so much.
