🇮🇷🇺🇸| Iranian MP, Amirhossein Sabeti, says contrary to claims, the meeting between the Iranian and American delegations did not have the approval of the Leader, and the Leader did not issue any authorization for such a meeting.
Araghchi, a lead member of the negotiation team, technically has his own authorisation, but some were trying to portray that this meeting was approved by the Leader, which in reality was not.

Apologies if this point has been belabored, but i still feel the need to express why I oppose Araghchi’s position.
As I was saying prior, Araghchi’s actions seem on conflict with the strategy being pursued by Mojtaba Khamenei. If this were properly approved and announced as such I’d have less of a problem. It’s the fact that once again, the reformists have taken back channels to subvert the policy of the current Supreme Leader, which only bets the question of who Araghchi was starting these talks on behalf of?
The answer, being that he’s a reformist, is likely that he was acting on behalf of West-obsessed Iranian oligarchs.
According to witcoff the “meeting” was held through mediators. This was exactly how things were supposed to happen.
This tweet was posted before any of the news outlets started tossing their hissy fit over the meeting so it isn’t even witcoff trying to cover Araghchi’s ass.
There is no issue here. Stop dooming.
