The EU should be taking notes
I wouldn’t be surprised if China might also be supplying weapons to Cuba.
What’s up with the down votes? I’m hoping they’re armed to the teeth if the US tries any shit.
sure hope so
so that the usa has an excuse to invade?
US needs an excuse to invade countries ? since when ?
The US is going to invade regardless, lol.
Hopefully enough weapons to scare US of Fucking A shit its pants.
There’s no weapons.
I hope so. If they’d been able to keep the missiles the Soviets had stationed there, they wouldn’t be in this mess.
hopefully china gives enough weapons to cripple the US energy production , when US eventually invades Cuba
Fingers crossed they do
Here’s hoping right
I wouldn’t be surprised if China might also be supplying weapons to Cuba.
Another lemmy.world banger.
That’s based. But didn’t Cuba basically rescind their Communist policies recently because of a lack of international support and the US sanctions having crippled the country
They did no such thing.
They sure did. https://youtu.be/n7dvICgJYuI?t=4m17s
Next you’ll be telling me that China and Vietnam abandoned socialism because they use markets.
The Cuban social system is not being abandoned because they wanted to but because the US successfully imposed it on Cuba.
Cuban social system isn’t being abandoned period. Please stop spreading ultra nonsense on here.
What do you even think the word ultra means?
The word ultra is used to refer to idealist leftists who are divorced from the real world and can’t understand the concept of having to make compromises. It’s the people Lenin wrote this book for, specifically this chapter https://www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/1920/lwc/ch08.htm
Please stop spreading ultra nonsense
I asked and received. Thank you.
Edit:
Generalised subsidies that benefit the relatively affluent and the poor alike are to be replaced by assistance targeted at the most vulnerable – retirees, families with chronically ill children, and impoverished neighbourhoods – but the state’s responsibility for healthcare, education, social security and welfare is unchanged.
This is the main thing in my mind.
The reforms unquestionably carry risks. A property market, private banks, large firms and remittance-funded investment will tend to generate a propertied stratum, and in the Cuban case along existing fault lines of access to hard currency and family abroad. None of this should be waved away; it is the real cost of the policy. But the wager is a considered one, and it rests on a proposition that China has spent nearly 50 years testing: that a socialist state which keeps political power, public ownership of the commanding heights and the levers of planning and redistribution in its own hands can use markets and foreign capital to develop without being captured by them.
I’m unclear on property reforms. Are large swaths of land open to private ownership?
This reminded me of that cope article of when China passed the Gaza genocide approval resolution and whaddayaknow

complains about adhominem because noone takes his favorite YouTuber serious
Does adhominem
The only cope I see is yours tbh
Comparing their opinions on that matter shows me all I need to know.
Yet more examples of splitting. In the span of weeks, BE was promoted to golden god of truth & righteousness, and Cuba demoted to capitalist pigs.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idealization_and_devaluationOf course it’s adhominems. Are you going to keep defending the Serbs too? https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/israel-finds-new-breakaway-allies-bosnias-serbs
Are you going to keep repeating NATO slander against the Serbs?
NATO loves these guys

Bad Empanada is fucking embarrassing 💀

I’m also unclear on the ins and outs of market reforms in Cuba, and would like an analysis or few. In the meantime, I keep this comment in mind:
Everyone agrees it’s bad but people are very upset BE points out that the Soviet Union had high levels of international solidarity which gave Cuba a necessary lifeline against US imperialism, but Russia and China are letting the US dictate the terms on Cuba now.
Russia has been capitalist for a long time, but not imperialist. Cuba is grown up now. Both are helping. What are they supposed to do, say: do this and that? Go in and take over and run things? Cuba is sovereign. This is a Cuban issue for Cuban people.
Yes what the US does, did is slimey af. And if China or Russia went in telling Cuba they have to do this or that to get assistance, that’s… imperialism.
What are they supposed to do, say: do this and that?
Pass through the US imposed oil blockade and tell the US to go shove it instead of abiding by US imperialist terms.
Will it come at costs to their own countries? Certainly. But if everyone just thinks of themselves the US will divide and conquer the whole world with ease. First was Venezuela. Now Cuba.
Pass through the US imposed oil blockade and tell the US to go shove it instead of abiding by US imperialist terms.
Do you imagine Cuba has no say in this? Has it occurred to you maybe Cuba doesn’t want this?
I can’t tell if this video itself or your uncritically posting it is the bigger “oof” moment.
You should listen to this podcast episode which argues that Cuba did not, in fact, “rescind its communist policies”, and that Cuba has long been navigating the constraints of the blockade in various ways, for decades
Wow I just listened to a two hour podcast of three people doing ZERO mentions of how China and Russia are dropping the ball on international solidarity because apparently that doesn’t exist. Apparently the USSR disappeared and now Cuba just has nobody to count on well gee that sucks. Gotta implement capitalist policies now!
Am I glad I don’t listen to these Grahan Platner fans often. BadEmpanada doesn’t care about pissing off some of his audience. These guys are farming.
Am I glad I don’t listen to these Grahan Platner fans often
Is this your only insult? Are you stupid? Do you think an iraqi Communist has any positive things to say about Graham fucking Platner?
Log off, lmao
Yugopnik has another podcast with massive Graham Platner fan MikeFromPA in which they conveniently never talk about Graham Platner.
Oh how nice of everyone to dance around the Nazi bar. Wouldn’t want to rock the Nazi boat!
Guess who did call it out.
It’s a common misconception that socialism is an equal distribution of poverty.
Stupid Fidel Castro amirite
From here:
Gawronski: But China, even if it’s remained socialist politically, is trying to move away from socialism economically. On the other hand, Cuba still seems to be solidly socialist. Isn’t it difficult to be the only socialist country when everything around you is changing?
Castro: I think China is a socialist country, and Vietnam is a socialist country as well. And they insist that they’ve introduced all the necessary reforms, precisely to stimulate development and to continue advancing towards the objectives of socialism. There are no chemically pure regimes or systems.
In Cuba, for example, we have many forms of private property. We have tens of thousands of landowners who own, in some cases, up to 45 hectares; in Europe they would be considered latifundistas. Practically all Cubans own their own homes and, what’s more, we are more than open to foreign investment. But none of this detracts from Cuba’s socialist character.
What’s certain is that we will never make the mistake of destroying the country to make something new. We will not make the mistake of plunging our country into chaos, into anarchy, to solve the problems we have, because that would be the only way to never solve them.
