Are people here pro Russia taking over Ukraine here?
Honest question from a non-communist, based on your reply here. Does one need to support Putin to be a Marxist?
In a word, no. In a few more words, support for Russia (not Putin, as historical materialists don’t subscribe to great man theory) is only a partial, temporary, tactical one, in the context of imperialist liberation. Russia is still a capitalist state, though, so it’s a two stage strategy: first liberate colonized bourgeois states from colonizer states, and second revolution within those liberated bourgeois states.
Russia is an interesting case: it has already liberated itself from the post-Soviet “shock therapy” neocolonizers. This occurred during Putin’s administration, which is why he is especially hated by the US. So now the support for Russia is in the context of keeping the colonizers from recolonizing it, and supporting Russia to the extent that it helps other states liberate themselves. But Russia isn’t trying to “liberate” Ukraine, at least not all of Ukraine. It’s trying to resolve the genocidal attacks on the people of the Donbas, and it’s trying to resolve the imperialist military expansion at its border.

Marxists tend to critically support Russia over Ukraine here. Russia doesn’t want to “take over Ukraine,” it wants the 4 oblasts and Ukraine to be demillitarized. Donetsk and Luhansk both have been at war with Kiev since 2014 and voted to join the Russian Federation, and the far-right Banderites that siezed power in the 2014 Euromaidan coup have been heavily millitarizing and oppressing ethnic Russians. Ukraine serves a similar geopolitical purpose for the US Empire as Israel, it’s a heavily millitarized anti-communist country surroundrd by geopolitical adversaries.
As you can see from the comments, libs are way more delusional than in your meme, they aren’t even admitting the three first lines.
it’s heart warming to see that the reality to this narrative still has defenders and it makes me wonder what people will believe when reality wins out.

Ukraine is supported by the western empire for the same reason Israel is, it’s a glorified US millitary base in the region surrounded by geopolitical adversaries. Russia will not stop their advance while they are clearly winning, and the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics already voted to join the Russian Federation. The idea that there will be guerilla resistance is just unfounded, Kiev has been at war with the Donbass region for a decade.
Europe is increasingly being demoted from imperialist vassals of the US Empire to periphery countries. Europe has very little hard power compared to the major players in the world stage and is utterly dependent on the US Empire’s hard power. The soft power Europe has is slipping as well. No amount of your homophobic pejoratives will change the fact that Europe doesn’t bring much to the table despite being the loudest ones there, and that’s why they are in fewer and fewer international talks where major powers are involved.

The people of Donetsk and Luhansk, who voted to join the Russian Federation, seem to be happy with the way the war is going. Kiev was ethnically cleansing them since 2014, after all, so that checks out. As for Ukraine being a glorified millitary outpost, again, it’s similar to Israel. Ukraine gets arms from NATO, is cozy with NATO, and is in general a highly millitarized country. Poland is also governed by the far-right, this isn’t the grand own you think it is. Europe since the end of World War II has been subservient to the US Empire, that isn’t new. What’s new is Europe’s demotion from vassal to periphery, which is an ongoing process accelerated in recent years.

You repeated literal Nazi rhetoric about “Russian hordes” and spouted Eurochauvanism, then went on to accuse people of being “brainwashed,” which itself is a fantasy idea used to terminate discussion.

You can call them invaders if you really want to use that analogy. You don’t need to rely on racism and dehumanization, but Euronationalists always reach for those as y’all have done for centuries.

It’s incredibly easy to not be racist, you should give it a try sometime.

Ah yes the dehumanizing Russian rhetoric towards the Ukrainians of… *checks notes* calling them a brotherly people. Smh…how awful of them.
“How can you expect me to criticize foreigners if I can’t be racist!”
“I broke the rules, and they removed my comment! This is an outrage!”
Please point me to a “non-tyranical” com then
