I know capital is heartless, so that’s why it keeps trying the Omani route. But doesn’t it care about the high cost of having its ships and cargo fucking annihilated?
The ships have no value if they cannot be moved. usa has its own “insurance” system for boats escaping the strait. A boat owner is balancing the cost of a new boat, how much money they could have made if their boat wasn’t trapped, how much longer the strait will be closed, the payout if they let the americans get their boat blown up, or if they win the lottery and get through.
Eventually the running the gauntlet math starts to math.
True, I had forgotten about the insurance aspect. Seems crazy to get paid out for taking a known high risk like running the strait, but if the US is backstopping it, it all makes sense.
