❗️New Gaza-bound flotilla to set sail from Europe in October
A new flotilla is expected to leave Europe next month and sail across the Mediterranean in the latest effort by activists to challenge Israel’s naval blockade of the Gaza Strip, reports said on Wednesday.
Citing the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), several outlets reported that the flotilla is scheduled to depart in October, making stops at ports in Spain, Portugal and Italy before continuing toward Gaza.
The mission would mark the first attempt by the FFC to reach Gaza since Israeli authorities detained 430 activists aboard 50 ships in international waters in May.
The arrests drew international condemnation, with several activists later saying that they were subjected to abuse and sexual assault, including rape, while in Israeli custody.
Since then, FFC activists have traveled around Europe by sea, seeking to build support and raise funds for the planned October flotilla.
