That’s the big question, cause I doubt there’s going to be huge demand for phones that cost a couple of grand in this economy. The fact that Apple’s been trying to secure RAM deals in China suggests they realize they need to keep prices down. We’ll have to see how it works out for them.
if the people i know who who place maintaining iphone ownership above being able to afford rent or food are any indication; apple will be fine no matter what the economy is like.

when i was young, i remember feeling that my family was superior over every one else in my neighborhood because we traded in a car for an x386 w internet access and nobody else had any computers nor internet access, and the behavior of the others because of it reinforced that feeling for me. i imagine that owning the newest iphone is the modern day equivalent.
yeah pretty much, the society here drills into you that owning more stuff is how you show you’re successful
it reaches a tragic and ludicrous level when you have to convince a young parent that their child can’t survive on school cafeteria food alone for several months in order to buy another iphone to replace a broken one instead of buying an $100 android.
