❗️Netanyahu testimony canceled yet again over ‘security concerns’
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s testimony in his corruption trial was canceled at the last minute on Monday, after it was set to resume following a more than two-month pause due to the US-Israeli war on Iran, according to Hebrew media cited by The Times of Israel. His lawyer, Amit Hadad, cited “security concerns,” with no further details immediately provided.
The hearing was expected to resume cross-examination in Case 4000, after Netanyahu had already testified 80 times and was nearing the end of that phase. The cancellation comes after President Isaac Herzog declined, for now, to grant Netanyahu a pardon and instead called for renewed plea deal talks, despite Netanyahu’s formal pardon request and heavy pressure from US President Donald Trump.
❗️ Virginia pension fund invested $394m in firms supplying Israeli war machine
A report by the VRS Divest found that the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) pension fund invested about $394 million in companies tied to weapons manufacturing and shipping operations supplying Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza.
The findings, based on public financial data and Freedom of Information Act records, identified major contractors including Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon, and Northrop Grumman, as well as shipping firms linked to arms transfers.
Public sector workers in Virginia told TRT World they had no control over how their retirement funds were allocated, expressing shock that their savings were tied to companies involved in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Activists and employees are now calling for the VRS Board to divest, arguing the investments contradict the ethical commitments of workers, while officials have so far rejected the campaign despite growing pressure.

❗️Hezbollah leader blasts Lebanese government concessions, rejects ‘ceasefire’ terms, and vows continued resistance until Israeli withdrawal
Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem said in a statement released on 27 April that the battle with Israel
“began on 23 September 2024 and has not ended until now,”
warning that Lebanon’s leadership made, “a humiliating and unnecessary concession” driven by “submission without alternative.” He stressed that what the US and Israel demand “is not in their hands, and what you want from them they will not give you,” and set out five conditions for any resolution:
-
“stopping the aggression by land, sea, and air…”
-
“The withdrawal of Israel…”
-
“The release of prisoners…”
-
“The return of the displaced…”
-
“And reconstruction.”
He argued that the authority, “cannot continue while it relinquishes the rights of Lebanon and the land and confronts its resisting people,” urging it to, “return to its people to unite them,” as it represents the whole population, not a faction.
Qassem sharply criticized the Lebanese government’s conduct, saying it placed itself “in a dangerous predicament” and committed “grave mistakes that place Lebanon in a spiral of instability.” He called on it to halt direct negotiations with Israel, rely on indirect talks, and reverse its decision that “criminalizes the resistance and its people, meaning more than half of the Lebanese people.” He condemned its silence, saying it stands “silent and incapable of carrying out the most basic of its national duties,” while Israel continues destruction, and the government chose to appear in “a single disgraceful image” alongside Israeli representatives.
He further denounced the ceasefire arrangement reached after the Washington meetings, saying it effectively granted Israel “a free hand to continue the aggression,” while Lebanese officials offered no clear public opposition.
“The authority held a meeting on Tuesday with the Israeli enemy, and after it issued an agreement in which it mentions the signature of the Lebanese government on it, a ceasefire from the Lebanese side, and granting Israel a free hand to continue the aggression, and ‘the two Lebanese and Israeli governments acknowledge the necessity of curbing the activities of Hezbollah and other rogue groups.’ We do not hear any comment from the officials in the authority.”
He reiterated that “aggression is the problem, the resistance is a reaction to aggression,” insisting that arms are necessary under occupation and declaring “We will not relinquish weapons and defense.” He described the choice as “liberation and dignity or enslavement and humiliation, and humiliation is not for us,” and pointed to the “Black Wednesday” massacres in which “200 airstrikes within ten minutes… more than 300 martyrs… more than 1,200 wounded.”
Reaffirming commitment to the martyrs and displaced, he said the resistance’s strength is built on “faith, will, and capability, and this triad does not run out,” adding that its capacities are “without limits.” He concluded that “the Israeli enemy will not remain on a single inch of our occupied land,” welcoming those who support Lebanon’s “liberation and reconstruction,” and rejecting those who serve the enemy’s demands.

❗️Israeli occupation forces reportedly begin scaling back in Lebanon despite escalation rhetoric
A Maariv report by Avi Ashkenazi published on 27 April says Israeli occupation forces have begun reducing their presence in southern Lebanon, even as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly claimed he had ordered intensified attacks against Hezbollah.
The withdrawal reportedly began with the redeployment of the 162nd Division, one of three maneuvering divisions in Lebanon, whose command has already been pulled back from the northern front, with additional units expected to exit in the coming days and be reassigned to other sectors.
Despite the drawdown, remaining forces continue “limited operations” under ceasefire constraints, carrying out raids and clearing operations up to the so-called “Yellow Line,” while demolishing every building in sight under the claim they are Hezbollah-linked.
Some units have been repositioned within other formations, with two battalions from the 401st Brigade transferred to the 146th Division, now acting as a line division, while the 226th Reserve Parachute Brigade operates in the coastal sector.
The 36th Division remains the main maneuvering force in Lebanon, including Golani units and supporting brigades, as supposed “restrictions” tied to the “ceasefire” prevent any advance toward the Litani River.
❗️Aoun calls for 1949-style armistice with Israel, calls decision to go to war ‘treason’
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said on Monday that direct talks with Israel are intended to bring an end to the war.
“My goal is to reach an end to the state of war with Israel, similar to the armistice agreement (1949),” Aoun said in a statement, adding that “I assure you that I will not accept reaching a humiliating agreement.”
“Those who dragged us into war in Lebanon are now holding us accountable because we made the decision to go to negotiations … What we are doing is not treason. Rather, treason is committed by those who take their country to war to achieve foreign interests,”
he said.
Aren’t we due a new megathread?

🇸🇴🌟🇮🇱🇺🇸Seizure of a cargo vessel off the Somali coast
➡The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported early this morning that a maritime hijacking incident has occurred 6 nautical miles northeast of the port of Garacad, Somalia.
➡According to the alert, unidentified armed individuals have seized control of a cargo vessel and diverted it toward Somali territorial waters.
➡No further details have yet been released regarding the crew, cargo, or nationality of the hijacked vessel, and investigations by the relevant authorities are ongoing.
🐻Since the Somali federal government hasn’t spoken on this, this is clearly an independent action by Puntland — one of Somalia’s semi-autonomous federal member states. Unlike Isreali/USA-backed Somaliland, they are not separatists — they formally acknowledge the federal government, but operate in practice as an autonomous region with their own president, police and military.
Garacad has been the center of Somali piracy since the early 2000s.
To repeat what we wrote 2 weeks ago — Yemenis are just sitting on the shore and watching the world burn.I love it when people say the most obvious of obvious things as if it was a brand new discovery:
Modern Neocolonialism: Western Countries Turning Into Terrorist States – Analyst
“As the era of US and EU hegemony comes to an end and a multipolar world order takes shape, the world witnesses the West’s growing aggressiveness and often irrational actions that could lead to unpredictable consequences,” Turkish political scientist and historian Mehmet Perincek tells Sputnik.
“To restore its increasingly fragile position, Western imperialism resorts to pre-capitalism methods—imposing embargoes, violating private property, seizing foreign assets and oil, breaching the sanctity of homes, abducting presidents, and even attempting to assassinate heads of state,” the analyst stresses.
A similar situation is taking place at sea: international maritime law is being violated, merchant ships are being fired upon, and trade routes are becoming unsafe, which can be described as a “true return to the era of piracy,” according to Perincek.
As for the West’s confrontation with Iran, the former has found itself in a classic “double-edged sword” situation, where both retreat and further attacks create new challenges, the pundit wraps up.
