Hopefully Iran uses this ceasefire, however long it lasts, to make a sprint to the bomb. I don’t think anything can truly offer sufficient deterrence other than a verified nuclear weapons test. I have no idea how quickly they can manage that, however.
It didn’t last long at all. Israel just conducted one of its largest airstrikes against Beirut.
I hope Iran doesn’t respect the ceasefire. Not retaliating would be the equivalent of abandoning Lebanon, especially when Hezbollah has been one of Iran’s biggest allies in the region.
And only completely braindead people would believe Israel and US want a real ceasefire. This is just another attempt to regroup, rearm, and attack Iran again. If Iran falls for this again and has another delegate of negotiators blown up, then that blood is on Iran’s hands.
Reblock the strait immediately. Blast an Israeli or US tanker immediately. Make it clear this is for what Israel is doing in Lebanon.
They need to do this immediately. Otherwise they’ve been played again. Like all the other times.
I don’t think they ever “unblocked” it. They said they would give safe passage but not free passage. The toll booth on the strait is never going away.
I’m guessing the political class, funded by the Iranian Bourgeoise, want an end to the war so their assets in other countries aren’t harmed.
I read in some thread that Pezeshkian is trying to go for the ceasefire. Given that he’s messed up before as well, I’m surprised that he hasn’t been removed with a vote of no confidence yet. He doesn’t strike me as a wartime president, but I may be wrong. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can correct me
If they have nukes every missile they fire has to be treated as a potential nuke. Even if they have nukes they dont have ICBMs they dont have nuclear subs, they don’t have stealth aircraft, so they cant hit usa. Building a nuke is the stupidest thing they could do. They have proven that they don’t need nukes.
Fuck off. The nukes exist so Israel knows how easily it can be flattened if it pulls something. The Nukes will only be used if Iran is nuked first.
They need nukes. This whole situation would’ve never happened if Iran had nukes. It’s okay to admit that Khamenei was wrong, and that not having nukes turned out to be Iran’s biggest weakness.
Iran showed them in June how easily they could be flattened. It didn’t stick. Being told that they will be nuked will not matter. israelis are immune to “deterrence.” Every time they get deterred they forget why they stopped in a few days or weeks and then they go right back. Having a nuke does nothing except insure that nukes will be used. They are supremacists and exceptionalists, they believe the rules of reality do not apply to them.
What would stop them using them in a first strike? Morality? Law? Morality is not a constant. Laws can be changed. If Iran have nukes any missile could be armed with a nuke. israel would have to treat each one like they are under nuclear attack.
If a nuke goes off in occupied Palestine all of Palestine get irradiated killing millions of people including Palestinians as well as people in neighboring countries. That doesn’t help anyone. Iran’s current set of tools are working perfectly fine why would they cut off their ability to use them?
This whole thing would have happened sooner if they had started building nukes. That has been the israeli narrative for starting war with Iran for decades.
