Spain has blocked US military aircraft involved in attacks on Iran from using its airspace, expanding an earlier decision to deny access to jointly operated military bases. Defense Minister Margarita Robles said Madrid will not authorize “the use of military bases or airspace” for operations linked to the strikes.
Officials said the move reflects Spain’s position that the attacks were carried out unilaterally and in violation of international law. The restriction forces US warplanes to reroute around Spanish airspace when flying toward targets in West Asia.
