I was never able to convince an European that it didn’t make any sense that Russia would attack it’s own infrastructure. Even today, they will probably not admit it.

I still wonder about the mental gymnastics back then when that happened.

    • “This is false flag operation from Vladolf Putler!”
    • “RuZZia destroyed the pipelines, so Germany won’t have gas over the winter!”

Ukraine would never do such things, you know. And now:

“It is understandable that Ukraine did that.” “It was clear from the beginning.”

    Pathetic.

Of course it is Russia’s fault. Today I read a wonderful comment on Reddit:

If Ukraine will start run out of ammunition, that it is probably the fault of Russia too.

And it’s still not the truth, they are just scapegoating Ukraine now that the traditional process of discarding the proxy is underway.

      Or, as Polish FM said:

Ukraine is the scapegoat indeed. But to say, that it was initially orchestrated by the US would mean to take an extra step in thinking. So the liberal now is simply acknowledging that it was done by Ukraine and that it was a good thing to do. However! Not Ukraine itself for some. You know, it were just “Ukrainian patriots” which were sponsored by some rich guy.

And years back being called a Russian bot for saying that it was not done by Russia, was insane.

When you’re aware of the crime that you planned and are about to commit, that’s called premeditation.
