They usually correctly point to the USSR, Cuba, PRC, Vietnam, Laos, etc. as actual implementations of Socialism, but lie, exaggerate, and omit key details, and conflate Communism with (insert scary buzzword here). It’s a rational target (for their interests, at least) using irrational methods, something Michael Parenti illuminates on in Blackshirts and Reds.
Everyone who died under communism also died under capitalism because communism resides within a larger capitalism.
