  • I feel like it would be more interesting to be able to properly “crosspost” a toot into Lemmy. When I’m on the twittoverse with my Sharkey account, I often encounter content that I want to share in Lemmy community. The only way to it for know is to create a new toot and have in it the link to the toot to share. That’s not great.
Also, I often forgot to add the mention of the community when I wrote OC from Sharkey I cannot edit my toot to add the mention and see it post to Lemmy. I have to delete it and rewrite it from the start.

Yes, Physics majors are a bit too hierachical with science like there were not doing non-rigorous math themselves but let’s be honest: on the other spectrum of real/fake science it is very very hard to find actual people seriously studying the field, like you have to go up to doctorant to find the kind of serious study you find in physic undergrad.

  • As of today no. But I’m going by steps :

    • I’ve stop using it without a front-end.
    • I look for other source of content from my favorite youtubers (podcast host somewhere else, web site, social media, blog especially for cooks)
    • I search for content on other plateform before it (but it is far for being systematic right now

My goal is not to go full private or open-source but just less dependent on YouTube. Onfortunately so many youtubers are solely there.

Anyway, I believe that the day big for-profit intrusive company will stop leading the video hosting business, the format will get noticeably less popular as it is extremely ressource intentive. It will mostly replace by podcast and illustrated articles.
