No, it would not “just as readily have been an entirely human passion project”, because those take months to years, and you therefore hear about them organically as they’re in development; they don’t show up out of the aether to get a few paragraphs’ mention on an obscure Linux blog. Even from a statistical point of view, those passion projects are vanishingly few compared to the slop projects.

🆕 LibreOffice 26.8: What’s New?

There’s no AI in LibreOffice 26.8. Nothing about the suite talks to a remote server, and none of it needs an internet connection to work.

This isn’t an oversight; it’s a promise. TDF says that if your work can’t leave the building for legal or privacy reasons, the only way to prove that later (during an audit, for example) is if the software never gave it anywhere to go.

Unrelated to the question, but I think the other commentor got it right, so I’ll say this instead. If you’re doing GasBuddy, it would be amazing if you also added data to OpenStreetMap where applicable. We don’t keep track of the current price, because it’s supposed to be semi-static infrastructure, but we do keep track of payment methods accepted and types of fuel offered.

We keep track of other amenities too like compressed air and vac stations, but just adding the payment, fuel, etc. data to the existing station object would already be above and beyond and so appreciated.

That said, if not, it’s still cool knowing that you’re also out there helping to crowdsource knowledge.

Something I’d suggest if OsmAnd feels too cluttered for you is to change the settings; OsmAnd lets you change a lot, but one of the ones I do is to change “Map Style” to Osm-Carto.

Carto, for context, is the vector map that you’d find by going to the OSM website. Much cleaner color scheme, imo.

Yeah, OsmAnd is really good; it’s what I use as my daily driver. CoMaps/Organic to me feel too limited, but some people may like that.
