  • I don’t know if there’s a name for it, but I definitely understand what you’re talking about. For me, the tingly calm feeling comes from the abrupt change between constant background white-noise and sudden quiet. I love love love that feeling. The moment after you turn off a loud fan, shutting off a car engine, when an ambulance siren finally stops, a jump cut between a loud action sequence in a movie and a normal scene. Even the moment when a song’s accompaniment drops out but a cappella vocals continue.

    It’s a beautiful thing.

    Edit: typo

  • I mean sure, it’s cute. And the video is worthy of like, a small smirk, but is this really what the Lincoln Project is up to these days? Seems like they could be using their money and influence more responsibly. It’s probably more valuable to at least try to change some peoples’ minds. I don’t see how spending money producing a sketch that wouldn’t even make it on SNL is worthwhile.

  • I started reading it, but the very first paragraph is already spilling over with bullshit. So I’m done.

Israel’s unpreparedness on Oct. 7 shows that even powerful nations can be surprised in catastrophic ways.

First of all, of course powerful nations can be surprised, what a silly thing to say. But that’s not what happened here. Israel should have been fully prepared, because Israel was warned about the exact thing that happened on Oct. 7th. Their intelligence was quite specific on what was about to happen, it’s just that they didn’t believe their own intelligence for what I would call ironically racist reasons. They didn’t believe that Hamas was organized enough to be capable of carrying out such an attack, but they were so obviously wrong.

So without finishing the article I’m gonna guess these clowns are using an intelligence failure to justify more intelligence.
