— 🇮🇶/🇹🇷 NEW: Bafal Talabani, head of the Iraqi Kurdish party ‘PUK’, announces his intention to secede from the current Iraqi Kurdistan autonomous region and create a ‘Kurdistan 2.0’ that includes the cities of Sulaimaniyah and Halabja.
Talabani declared that his party would withdraw from what he called the ‘failed government’ in Erbil with immediate effect, vowing to create a parallel government and institutions.
The announcement likely marks the first time in history that a non-existent country splits up and forms a second non-existent country.
