❗️Hamas meets Palestinian Islamic factions in Beirut
According to a Hamas statement issued on 5 September, a Hamas leadership delegation met representatives of Palestinian Islamic factions in Beirut to discuss the latest political developments related to the Palestinian cause, Israel’s ongoing war on Palestinians, conditions in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, and the issue of Palestinian elections.
The participants condemned Israel’s continued attacks on Palestinians in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and occupied Jerusalem, as well as the escalating assaults on the Al-Aqsa Mosque. They also denounced Israeli attacks targeting UNRWA in occupied Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza, reaffirming support for the agency and calling on the international community to strengthen its role and services.
The two sides also stressed the right of Palestinians in Lebanon to elect their representatives to the Palestinian National Council, rejecting appointments, exclusion, and monopolization of representation by certain factions. They reaffirmed their commitment to the security and stability of the Palestinian community in Lebanon, while supporting Lebanon’s security and strengthening Palestinian-Lebanese relations, according to the Hamas statement.
