It was in response to isntreal bombing Yemen since March 15th. They likely would have preferred not to get involved at this moment so they could continue to rebuild from previous attacks, and also seemed to defer to Iran.

That all said, full support and incredible respect to Ansar Allah and the people of Yemen. This was never their fight, but they joined anyway, and were likely decisive with their blockade and strikes on isntreal.
