Children in the Gaza Strip are facing a lethal, hidden threat from the remnants of war, including unexploded ordnance and devices intentionally disguised as toys, according to Gaza’s Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Muneer Alboursh.

Alboursh issued a powerful condemnation of the practice, stating that the deliberate placement of these devices poses an acute and ongoing danger to the youngest residents of the territory.

According to the Ministry of Health, items such as dolls, teddy bears, and colorful balls are being used to lure and injure children.

“When a child reaches for the ‘pretty toy,’ the horrific truth explodes in their face,” he wrote.

im reading 2 different stories here. one saying that toys were rigged deliberately, and another saying its unexploded bombs that kids have touched while digging through the rubble to find belongings. while this is fucking heartbreaking to hear these kids now have life changing injuries, both stories set very different stories, with one being very gruesome, if true.

I believe that Israel soldiers are perfectly capable of this atrocities, as they have shown in the past and also reported by several humanitary organisations. But we have to take this news with a grain of salt, since there is no other news that confirms it.

The World Press Freedom Index only uses safety as one part of their score. It’s not a refutation of the statement you’re replying to.

But since you brought them up, here’s their breakdown of:

"In 2024, Palestine became the most dangerous country in the world for journalists. Close to 200 reporters were killed by the Israeli army in Gaza in the first 18 months of war, including at least 42 slain while doing their job, and dozens more detained in Israeli prisons. Trapped in the enclave, journalists in Gaza have no shelter and lack everything, including food and water. In the West Bank, journalists are routinely harassed and attacked by both settlers and Israeli forces, but repression reached new heights with a wave of arrests after 7 October, when impunity for crimes committed against journalists became a new rule. "

I don’t doubt it, this why I sais, that I believe the Israel solders capable to do any atrocity, even capable to leve bomb traps to childrens. But I also don’t like fake news, even not from Palestine, these are damage more than it helps, because Israel can use it against them. Because of this is specally in this notice to prove that it is true, only believing it isn’t enough.
