That’s what package managers are for, though. Or add the GitHub repo to your RSS reader if you want the details.
Lemmy is a social media, like others have mentioned in this thread I don’t mind this type of post nearly as much if the person posting adds their opinion/analysis/summary.
Evkob (they/them)@lemmy.catoToday I learned@lemmy.ml•TIL About the 1985 MOVE bombing, where the Philadelphia Police Department bombed and burned 61 houses, murdering 11 and leaving 250 homeless
0·1 year agoA brutal atrocity committed by a police department and your reaction is to “Well, AKTSHUALLY”, where’s your goddamn sense of empathy man?
Calling the bombing of a neighbourhood simply “inappropriate” is fucked and I fear for your humanity. “Inappropriate” is when I fart at the dinner table, not when one uses bombs on other humans.

Technology@lemmy.ml•It's Time to "Linux"! – Journey to EndeavourOS #1
3·1 year agoEndeavourOS, my beloved 💕
It’s what made Linux click for me after a few attempts at using Ubuntu and Linux Mint. I unironically think the little Pac-Man animations made me more comfortable using the terminal.
When I used to work at a summer camp, we had this mud pit behind one of the cabins where we’d bring groups who were down for it (usually the older kids). It looked exactly like this and the kids loved it.
One time we went in and a kid felt something in the mud and we pulled out a full skull of some animal. We stopped bringing the kids there afterwards, lol

Fuck Cars@lemmy.ml•Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic improvement.
///
That’s such a drastic change in just 7 years! It’s incredible that other cities can see this data and just continue on with their pro-car policies that prioritize motor vehicle efficiency to the detriment of any other alternatives.
Say what you will about the country, I have my fair share of criticism regarding Canada and would agree that we are, on the whole, cringe. But our flag? It’s a good flag. I don’t care what you think.
The Canadian flag is not a “bog standard three stripes” design. It even introduced a new vexillological term; the Canadian pale.
I don’t understand why you think the maple leaf, a symbol which has been associated with Canada ever since there was a “Canada” to speak of, is “cringe”.
The Canadian flag is a vexillological masterpiece and I will die on this hill. I wouldn’t bother dying for my country, but I would for its flag. It’s instantly recognizable, simple yet symbolic, and honestly such a massive glow-up from the previous Red Ensign flag.
You want to see a cringe flag? Look at this atrocity:

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What was the biggest pill you've had to swallow about your own self or habits?
5·1 year agoThat I have a tendency towards addiction with drugs. I’ve been high (marijuana) more often than not for the past decade, with spurts of alcoholism peppered in throughout my adult life. I also had a phase for about a year where I did shrooms once or twice a week.
I still struggle with my consumption, but at least now I’m aware that it can easily get to the point where it affects my life too much and can cut back when I’m starting to feel like I’m getting sucked in. I think I’ll always be an addict of some form or another, though.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What cartoon is like crack cocaine for you?
7·1 year agoKing of the Hill. I love the characters so much, especially the dynamic between Hank and Bobby.
That’s a lot of nuts!
If I search for comments, I’ll see stuff from whenever, but it works as it should when searching for posts.

7·2 years agoI like Fluent Reader, it looks nice, can fetch full articles, and IIRC caches them locally for offline viewing, don’t quote me on that last one though.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are inexpensive staples in your country?
1·2 years agoOops, I didn’t see that part of the question, my bad! I sure hope rice stays affordable, that and tofu represent like half my diet :P

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are inexpensive staples in your country?
1·2 years agoLentils and potatoes for sure, but we don’t really grow rice in Canada. There are some [examples] (https://chathamdailynews.ca/news/local-news/chatham-kent-home-to-canadas-first-commercial-rice-crop), but we get our rice from the US, Thailand, and India, as well as many other countries. I eat rice very regularly and I have no doubt I’ve never eaten rice grown on Canadian soil.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Starting tomorrow music is illegal, except for one song per person. What's your song?
3·2 years agoJethro Tull - Thick as a Brick. I’ve always loved this song, it has a mix of different styles, from flute-forward chill sections to more classic rock sounding parts.
Oh and it’s over 43 minutes long. Before anyone says “oh but there’s part 1 and part 2”, this was a limitation of vinyl and not the artistic intent behind the piece. It’s one song, fight me.

7·2 years agoDamn, either you were a really smart 13 year old, or you must have been super desperate and then amazed that that actually worked.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the dumbest thing you've done to fix a tech issue?
8·2 years agoI think this might actually be the dumbest. My fear of electricity is one of the main reasons I focus my tech shenanigans on the software side of things rather than the hardware.

His original French name is Ocatarinetabellatchitchix, which is a reference to a song by Tino Rossi (who has Corse ancestry).
