Not for the music video so much, but the song “5 out of 6” by Dessa. Such a great hype song. Cannot walk normal when this is in the earbuds, have to strut.

I don’t know about Florida specifically, but in my experience…
Show up at the courthouse or wherever your reporting location is. You will have to go through metal detectors/security similar to an airport. Bring a book or something to entertain yourself, there will be a lot of waiting around.
Everyone reporting for jury duty will get signed in and sit in a big boring room. You may be in this room for hours. Court officials will call a group of 20-40 people by name or juror number and lead you into a courtroom. A judge will give you basic details of the court case and ask if anyone has any disqualifying circumstances (you’re the sole income provider for your family, you’re a student and it’s finals week, the case involves a profession or industry that you’re part of, you personally know one of the people involved, etc…). Both lawyers will ask your group questions to determine if they want you on the jury or not. This isn’t a one-on-one interview, it’s more “Raise your hand if you think insurance companies are the bad guys,” or “does anyone here have really strong opinions about sexual abuse?”
If you get selected to participate on that jury, you’ll stay behind and get further instructions from the judge about the trial and when you’re to report back next. They should give you a general idea of how long they expect the trial to last. If you’re not selected, you may be released immediately or you may get led back to the holding area until you’re called for selection on a different trial. This process could repeat several times. It all depends on what the case load for the courthouse is that week. You may get lucky and get released as soon as you check in if they’ve filled all their juries for the week already (I had this happen once), but since you’re showing up on a Monday I wouldn’t bank on it.
Before you’re released, you should get a piece of paper that acknowledges you’ve fulfilled your jury duty and something to show your employer to prove you weren’t just playing hooky from work.
Bring a book. Be patient. Expect it to take most of the day.

My wife and I both enjoy teasing / lightly pranking each other. We had to institute a “safe word” to indicate when we’re being serious and not setting up a joke.
(The instigating event for that was right before I introduced her to my grandparents and I really needed to convince her that grandpa was hard of hearing but too proud to wear hearing aids, so she’d have to speak loudly and into his left ear, not his right.)
In 10 years of marriage, we’ve never once violated the trust of the safe word. If one of uses it, the other drops any skepticism and takes it as gospel truth.
I have never been much of a gift-giver. Didn’t grow up in a family that placed much emphasis on birthday or Christmas gifts (because we were poor, not because we were morally enlightened).
Now, I have no kids of my own to buy for and too many nieces/nephews to buy something significant for everyone, so we just don’t. My wife and I either buy what we want on our own or give gifts to each other in the moment rather than waiting for a holiday when we’re ‘supposed’ to.
We are going on a long vacation over the Christmas/New Year period, though. That’ll be nice.
I got called “Mr. Left Face” once.
No ragrets.
To just invest in broad index funds instead of trying to play the stock market.
Obviously the ska.
I was planning to join the military after high school. It was a 3 hour drive to the closest MEPS (military entrance processing station), so the local recruiters only made the trip out there once a week. I already had my date set when another guy dropped out, so my recruiter asked if I was interested in going a week earlier. I said absolutely, because I was dead et on being in the Army, so what difference did one more week make?
So that’s how I enlisted on Sept 5th, 2001…
My main takeaway from that article is that Nautico Crepusculo would be a good album title.
X-COM with the Long War mod.
Football Manager 2016 was the first version I tried. I put 1,500+ hours into it and only stopped because I decided to upgrade to Football Manager 2018. I’m on 2024 now at ~400 hours.
Trusting the home inspector that said the roof wouldn’t need to be replaced for at least another couple years.
Not trying to dox myself, but I also live in Missouri and have a sailboat on Carlyle Lake in IL (about an hour from St. Louis). If you’re anywhere in the area, our sailing club is doing our annual Try Sailing Day on June 22nd. Free rides on a variety of different small sailboats and catamarans in exchange for a gentle sales pitch to sign up as an associate member, take some lessons, and be able to rent out any of the club’s fleet boats or volunteer to crew for someone on the Sunday buoy racing circuit.
Do you live in an area where you can go sailing?
I enlisted in the Army on Sept 5th, 2001…that was an eventful week.
Don’t really know, I’ve never talked to any of them.
