help-circle

  • This is an excellent idea.

If you really want to help and they want you to be on your own (and probably are enjoying their solitude) this is a neat way to do so. They don’t want help now but they may in the future.

Though, as a parent myself, I’m guessing they’d want you to save for yourself and realize they can take care of themselves. Good parents want what’s best for their children without thinking of themselves, it’s a sacrificial relationship.

However, what they do want is a continuing relationship. Call or meet with them regularly. Take pictures of you and your adventures. If you decide to start a family send them plenty of pictures of the grandkids and have dinner with them regularly if you’re close by.

  • I can relate to this. I’m in my 40s now with quite a bit of hindsight.

When I was in my 20s I went to school in a creative field but with a science degree. I ended up getting through the program and earning my BS. However, I ultimately found that the field I was going into treated people poorly so I decided not to go forward with a career in it. Instead, I kept working in retail, where I had to get through school, and eventually worked my way up into management.

I now run a branch in a completely different field and am doing very well, have learned a ton, and have helped many people. It’s fulfilling and been good to me and my family. When I was deciding where life would take me, this wasn’t planned, but it’s probably 100x better than where I would be if I had chosen to go forward with my original plan.

  • They’ve chipped their toner but the off brand stuff that has chips works perfectly fine.

Source: bought 2 different Brother B&W laser models last year and 1 Brother color laser this year for the office. The cloners have already fixed this problem. Still works better than all of the other brands by a wide margin. Those 3 print every damn time from any device we have, mobile and desktop flavor of choice.

  • Probably VVVVVV. Comes in at 68MB on iOS.

Absolutely excellent infinite life platformer. Yeah, it’s a challenge but totally worth it. If you like Celeste, VVVVVV did it without all the story elements long before. Oh and the retro soundtrack is aces.

Super Hexagon is also great. Very lightweight at 31MB.
