Fucking Caml, hate this language 👺

Pretty sure ATM runs on super old stuff like OS/2 or Windows XP or Windows CE ?
Btrfs may have compression on by default so take it with a grain of salt
nope, it works really well, for more than a year now, this is my work PC using 8h/day, I’m using MX23 AHS version. Directly in the setup you can select encryption and btrfs volume etc. btrfs is pretty stable.
Btrfs in a luks container so it’s encrypted.
docker I guess, I still don’t know how it works, create them, etc
I’m using an old “ZTE Falcon” hotspot, I got it from T-Mobile maybe 8 years ago, it’s 4G/LTE, still works fine, tried multiple SIM (mine is unlocked), in general I’m using it via WiFi because we connect multiple phones/tv/laptops on it while traveling in a RV. I tested it with a USB cable between my linux and the hotspot, and it appears in Linux as a “usb0” interface, got an IP address, and works fine, it disables WiFi IIRC when plugged by USB.

I went through sh->csh->tcsh->bash
I remember, I saw the theatrical once, in theater.
I’m using MX, debian based, apt package, I have 0 flatpak/snap. They are up to date on about everything, like the latest Firefox I got this morning in a simple .deb that nala (apt frontend) installed without problems.
I never ever installed a snap/flat in my Linux years.
I learnt Caml in the 90s at university, I was completely lost, in Prolog too.
I like foxes they are cute, and this one is gonna make wine I guess, so it’s my pick!
Senior dev here, and dark theme is the best, really, how could we used white as shit screens/IDE before is beyond me. Everything is dark theme here. Using dual 27" 4K (in Linux, using 120DPI for fonts), lot of spaces, readable, smooth fonts
I used VMware or vbox for 10+ years, or HyperV in Windows.
Lastly in Linux I needed a windows XP install for an old program, I tried QEMU and after booting the install iso, I just created a small script to launch my installed image with some parameters I needed for serial port, and that’s it.
I like QEMU, and will try to use it for any VM now.
Bien sûr que non, vive la république et vive la France! 🇲🇫 😉
Like the good old BASIC compactor we had in the 80s, and this also exists for Javascript, replace all variables with a to z then aa to az etc if more than 26, compact every line with ‘;’ etc in the end it’s uneradable
What’s the difference? the name of some keys? Layout is the same, no?
Yep, there was not a lot of Un*x desktop in the 90s, mainly SCO, SVR4, BSD, SunOS1/SunOS2/Solaris.
It was the great time of mainframe, HP-UX, IBM AIX, Silicon graphics IRIX, and we had dozens of TX (X Terminal, a thin client running local X). I was a sysadmin on those dinosaurs, it was a good times. Installing HPUX8 with magnetic tapes, what a time… you know that the tar command means tape archiver, right?
And before that it was 8" floppy disk we used on older system like GCOS6 / DPS6 / Mini6, google it, it as fun :) the one I used was exactly as the one on this picture http://www.feb-patrimoine.com/projet/gcos6/gcos6.htm
Yup, on my Audiovox 8910, using a special USB cable and some obscure qualcom softwares, to access the “file system” and put a wav at the right place, and it had to be mono 8bits or something.
I didn’t want to pay $5 for a 10 seconds ringtones sample of a song. I did it myself :)
I had a Samsung colour laser printer, they provided driver for linux, I installed them, everything works, full support for settings etc
