He’s not talking about donations though, he’s talking about paying full price THEN tipping. It’s a blatant excuse to pay developers less while placing financial guilt on the people paying for the product. It’s the same way tipping at a restaurant works.

I mean current version really doesn’t mean anything because people aren’t going to upgrade if the version they’re using is fine. I submit that this is a perfect example of correlation != causation. I may have gotten the order wrong on the not equal symbology since I haven’t used it in a while.

Also, are we talking Linux kernal versions? There are so many problems with this comparison.

The main issue is that they communism is economic policy, NOT social policy. While they do go hand in hand people often conflate the two. Many dictatorships use communism as a way to control the people but that doesn’t mean that communism leads directly to dictatorships.
