oh now I see why I was having trouble signing up for a new service. never got the confirmation email, until a couple minutes ago

them coming back was extremely quick, faster than i expected after a global outage
I guess these issues may have had something to do with the 4-5 unsolicited password reset code emails I received in my other (non proton) email account
