Does anyone have any recommendations for a good open source journaling app that can rival Day One? I’m looking for something end-to-end encrypted—I know Day One claims to be E2E, but I’m not sure I trust it. I use Joplin for my general note taking, but It’s not really a suitable alternative for journaling.
I gave up on FOSS alternatives and journal exclusively in Obsidian. it’s not open source, but the file format is simple text files. Which for me, was a must.
I like logseq. Obsidian is also popular.
Obsidian is proprietary.
Ah yeah true.
logseq looks interesting. I’ll have a look at that and see if it does what I’m looking for. Thanks for that.
Hope it works out for you. I use it mostly for bullet points with tabbed in children. But if your looking for more long form you can switch the mode by clicking your mouse in the margin so your not inputting text then pressing T then D . you get out of the mode again with the same shortcut 👍
Maybe memoria but I don’t think it support e2ee. However it is a self-hosted solution which is more private than a unecrypted SaaS with tons of telemetry.
I’ll take a look. Thank you!
Thanks for all the recs everyone. I’ll take a look at them. It doesn’t seem like there’s exactly something that’s a direct replacement for Day One Journal. But, maybe some of these could work as well.
