But also, if the rule just doesn’t stick in your head, then:
just always use “who”
People are much more forgiving of using “who” for “whom” than the other way around.
It’s an indication that the distinction is quickly dying. If native speakers struggle with it, soon enough there may only be ‘who’.
Grammar is the attempt to enforce random arbitrary rules on a continuously evolving language.
Grammar can either be descriptive or prescriptive.
