    Some Christians believe the return of the Jewish people to their land is viewed by some as a sign of the end times, leading to the second coming of Jesus. And yes they want the rapture to happen. There is speculation that is why they so strongly want to defend anything Israel does.

      There is also a long history of euro zionism (“we are the true jews” aka british Israelites and mormons) and some use it to “relive” a modern day colonial project clothed in humanitarian language.
