The article says the source has been in the USA for 8 years so even ignoring the fact he has an incentive to lie, given he now works for the US, this is at best a decade old as news.

The comments make this sound like its unbelievable but im pretty sure all types of stupid shit has happened in every armed forces. There is a decently number of stupid humans and armed forces likely a larger percentage.

At this point I’m convinced US intelligence has no grasp on what’s going on in China and their “sources” are making shit up and laughing.

Apparently, China’s rocket force is taking the solid fuel from the missiles to make hot pot and replacing it with water because there wasn’t enough money to buy butane.

Supposedly, the chunks of solid fuel were able to burn at a consistent rate in open air despite burn rate of solid fuels being dependent on surface area and pressure.

Maybe they can trade solid chunks of fuel for some of those tasty Russian MREs on the black market. I heard due to corruption they don’t get any, so there must be lots

Solid fuel for rockets burns relatively slowly at 1 atm and in solid form, much like a flare, though still faster than I would expect you’d want for a hot pot unless these were a hybrid (so no oxidizer in the pellets, just a solid fuel source like modified PVC, with a separate oxidizer like nitrous oxide). The water was replacing the jet fuel, which - assuming it was similar to Jet A - is basically kerosene. Though I’d be worried what modifiers or stabilizers were used for a green flame if I were cooking over it. I’ve made green flames with boric acid and methanol for Halloween decorations (outdoor, of course), but who knows what is causing it in their fuel.

I mean, it wouldn’t be that surprising, there’s a long history of soldiers of all nations misusing rocket fuel. The original V-2s at one point had to have a laxative mixed into their 75% ethanol fuel to stop the technicians drinking it.

To teach people to think critically of what they read online, I guess. This comm is much more open to news from more international sources, which is a good thing, but I think that level of flexibility also forces the mods to allow some propaganda through on all sides. I respect it.
