  • I don’t follow pro sports, sometimes watch the college teams or the international gymnastics amateur competitions. Occasionally a soccer (football) match of our not top division but good local team but not often. Just not into watching men play games usually. But stuff like gymnastics and ice skating is so entertaining to watch. Competitive dance too.

    There really isn’t any value past entertaining you, right? If it’s not entertaining you anymore, the value is gone.

    Oh I guess I forgot rugby. I do not follow it at all but find it fun to watch. And the college used to put the basketball games on their TV channel with all the timeouts, halftime, everything taken out so it was just st gameplay and I always enjoyed those too. So sometimes I do like watching men play games if they are all action and not too long.





  • I’ve been to England and Scotland, and agree with you, this was in the 1980s and their idea of a dangerous neighborhood cracked me right up. London had no areas equivalent to what counted as a dangerous area in my city (though we have made great strides in the US since then in reducing violence, believe it or not. And in my city even more so, we went from so rough to relatively safe).

    I don’t think I would have called it free-er though? Safer for sure though, and healthcare so much better.


  • I live in a subtropical climate and it seems like most typical garden plants are not really good for our weather, it’s too hot for some and too wet for many who like hot.

    Our winners are:

    Trees- starfruit, longan, mango, papaya all do well.

    Garden -

    summer, wet season - Okra mostly. Hong Tsoi, Eggplant (little ones) Watermelon (little ones) sweet potato (Stokes Purple), tomatoes, basil.

    winter, dry season- Collards, peppers, broccoli (Green Magic) cauliflower, arugula, fennel, lettuce, radishes. Cilantro, or dill. A lot of the typical northern summer plants can be started in December or January to grow in the “spring” that runs from January to April ish.

    In between - peppers, fennel, mustard greens, eggplant, pumpkin type squash (but bugs always eat it) tomatoes.






  • Lady here & MHT with estrogen and progesterone helped me so much, sharply reduced my incidence of migraine and UTI, I will keep on it as long as possible.

    Husband says he won’t do the T, though, he just lifts weights. I think it would probably help him, but it is a lot more risky too, so I don’t really know if it’s a good idea. Our doctor said he wants to, though, and he is our age.

    I do know you ought not start unless you mean to continue, it replaces & your body stops making it. Which might be an ok result if you don’t have enough to begin with, just something to think about.

    Overall I am not against intervention in general, we are living so much longer and I want to feel good for more of those years, and the MHT is part of a virtuous cycle, better sleep and exercise, is protective of bones and brain.


  • My kids have theoretical public transportation to school, work, we live near the bus routes in several directions.

    To work or the high school - that bus runs 1 times per hour. So they can only arrive very early or very late, and it’s about an hour walk to either of those.

    The bus route to the university is actually pretty good, runs every half hour, and takes about 40 minutes to get there (vs. 10-15 minutes drive) then you have to trust your luck with the loop runner bus that goes from the transit center around the campus, that adds between 10 minutes and an hour, randomly because it has no schedule, just drives the loop all day and arrives whenever. There is an app that tracks it so you can know whether to risk crossing the huge road between the transfer ramp & the uni.



  • My homemade sourdough costs more than store bread, but not more than fancy sourdough bakery bread. I can’t buy flour wholesale, don’t make that much bread. But when it’s good it’s better than any bakery bread I’ve had. So, better, probably not cheaper.

    Home cooked meals vs. restaurants does save money.

    Gardening - most things work out cheaper than buying, though as I am a salaried worker I am not allocating labor cost.

    If it were to be compared to doing 1.5x pay overtime, then working more would make more money than we could save by doing cooking and gardening, it would always work out better to spend that time at work. But then the health impact of doing all that work and always eating out would have to be factored in.




  • No idea, you would have to ask the bank. I called that bank the “demon bank”, because the exterior walls were marble and the patterns looked like demons. Those scales still are at grocery stores here, I haven’t been in a physical bank for a long time. Here is the bank. It’s funny to me that a precognitive dream is humdrum but a scale at a bank is hanging you up. I already knew the scale was there, that was not part of the precognition.



  • The dumbest one that absolutely convinced me it was precog, was:

    I was in line at the bank behind 3 women. They had a scale, one of those big Toledo No Springs ones. I stepped on the scale, but the dial went backwards. I turned around and saw this girl Joann, who I hadn’t seen since middle school.

    I wrote all this down in the dream journal, and then didn’t think about it.

    Couple weeks later, I’m at that bank. 3 women ahead of me in line. I get on the scale, but it says I weigh 30lb, it’s broken. I turn around and who do the see? Joann, that girl I had not seen since middle school.

    What the fuck? It kinda pissed me off because I really don’t want to think the future is set to that extent. Like, seeing some big event that might echo back in time, sure. But a broken scale at some bank? Joann? I haven seen her since, either, we were not close, why would I dream her true?
