  • Yes, it’s Tik Tok. And it’s music older than I am sometimes. But mine listen to everything, like I do. I took the youngest to see Inhaler and also to see Young the Giant. Taking my husband to see Cannons, and also got him into country music, he used to hate it but if you turn off the commercial radio and just find the good stuff it is still being made.

The 2 bands both my older set of kids (millennials) and my younger set (GenZ) wanted to see when they were middle school age were Panic at the Disco and the My Chemical Romance, I always thought that was funny. Like it’s middle schooler music, I think I would have loved it too.

I was quite surprised, when buying seeds for my garden (I need heat tolerant varieties of everything) that some of the ones that were heat tolerant were also cold tolerant, either old varieties or sturdy hybrids.

Green Magic Broccoli is awesome, and there are lettuces like that. And while our unusual double tap freeze this year wiped out most of my garden, the fennel, which is heat tolerant in my experience, just did not freeze. All those little hairy leaves were completely undamaged. I did not expect that!

Oh how I hate the whole idea of detox and clean as it relates to nutrition. I worked at a health food store when I was young and while there was good nutritious food there, plenty of good people, the whole idea of ‘clean’ comes from a very dark place. I remember the raw foods guys and the idea of breathetarians. Like the less physical and embodied you were, the better person you were, enlightened. The idea of the physical world being unclean and something you should try to be free of, I hate it.

It really is more of a religious idea than anything to do with physical health. I think you have to enjoy being embodied, love the physical plane of existence, to have a healthy body. Not perfect.

ETA: OMG another comment reminded me. Also the colonics people trying to get literally clean inside, horrified at the stuff that came out of them, convinced it was toxic. I’m sure they are all dead by now.

  • Are you a lady? I work in an office at a sports company (so sporty casual is common) and there are several women here who wear dresses and skirts not pants, several more who switch back & forth. Not me - pants feel much more secure to me - but it’s nothing anyone really notices.

A man wearing skirts we would notice for awhile, not care but notice; if you are customer facing then you might encounter that surprise over and over, if not, I don’t think it will be a big deal.

  • Just coffee. I would eat a late breakfast one day, then stop eating, coffee (no calories) the next morning and then nothing until supper, usually around 8pm.

Yes the LDL went back up. I know it was related to the fasting and not weight loss - I am not fat and maintained calories overall to keep my weight stable. I had been sort of stumped, like you are. Obviously if someone is overweight and loses weight that will have benefits, there wasn’t a lot of research on people of normal weight fasting and not reducing. I got the one measurable benefit, but no improvements I could feel in any way, and the headaches were pretty bad.

ETA - short fast doesn’t need careful refeed. I just made a regular supper to break those fasts. No problems, and in general digestion has never been a weakness for me.

  • I had a boyfriend in England, he was Scottish (town southwest of Glasgow) but had lived in Canada, so the accent was muted. I am from Florida with parents from Louisiana so southern but not Southern l. I liked when he got drunk because he got more Scottish and he liked when I got drunk because I sounded Southern.

  • I agree on lobster because I think crab tastes better.

Agree on truffles, I think they are just expensive because they are rare and fragile, not because they are magically delicious.

People here LOVED Dave’s hot chicken. I went and really, it’s fine, I’d eat it but wouldn’t affirmatively choose it, if getting industrial fried chicken Popeyes and Publix are both better.

And man do people love Cuban Sandwiches here. Again, I will eat them they are fine but mostly because the bread is so good. Would rather just have a roast pork on the bread, dressed, without the ham & salami, or even the cheese toast on Cuban Bread I think is so good. There is nothing magical about the 3 meat combo.

  • I like to sing but have a good range of about half an octave. Here are the two extremes for me.

Cherokee by Kamasi Washington has an angelic singer who I cannot stand to sing with, I just listen.

We always belt it on C’mon Baby Cry by Orville Peck though even though nobody in my house can hit both his low and high falsetto notes, his voice & range is crazy good. I’m sure it sounds bad but feels so good to sing.

  • I don’t follow pro sports, sometimes watch the college teams or the international gymnastics amateur competitions. Occasionally a soccer (football) match of our not top division but good local team but not often. Just not into watching men play games usually. But stuff like gymnastics and ice skating is so entertaining to watch. Competitive dance too.

There really isn’t any value past entertaining you, right? If it’s not entertaining you anymore, the value is gone.

Oh I guess I forgot rugby. I do not follow it at all but find it fun to watch. And the college used to put the basketball games on their TV channel with all the timeouts, halftime, everything taken out so it was just st gameplay and I always enjoyed those too. So sometimes I do like watching men play games if they are all action and not too long.
